32 amazing volunteers helped us pick up trash and plant native trees along the Arroyo Las Positas in Springtown this past Saturday (1/20), thank you! We planted 90 native trees and shrubs including: mulefat, willows and elderberries. This is the second year we have planted native vegetation in Springtown in between Bluebell Drive and Heather Lane. The goal of this project is to eventually shade out the cattails that grow in the creek. The cattails slow down the flow of water during our heavy rain events and can cause flooding. By planting native trees we can increase native habitat for wildlife, protect the local neighborhoods from flooding, and provide the community with access to nature in their own back yards.
